چکیده
A 70-year-old man presented with abdominal pain. Enhanced CT revealed a hypodense mass with peripheral enhancement in the pancreatic body (Picture 1). Endoscopic ultrasonography confirmed a well-defined hypoechoic mass measuring 20 mm in size (Picture 2). Endoscopic retrograde pancreatography showed a smooth narrowing of the pancreatic duct with displacement (Picture 3). Surgical resection was performed. The resected specimen measured 20×18 mm in size with a thick fibroid capsule. The histopathological results confirmed it to be undifferentiated carcinoma, with osteoclast-like giant cells (UCOGC) and no vascular invasion (Picture 4). There had been no further recurrence for over five years following surgery. UCOGC is a rare pancreatic malignancy that has been reported to have a more favorable prognosis than pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (1). The good outcome in such patients might be attributable to following factors. The presence of osteoclast-like giant cells has been associated with

Undifferentiated Pancreatic Carcinoma with Osteoclast-Like Giant Cells: a Case Report
Undifferentiated pancreatic carcinoma with osteoclast-like giant cells (UPC-OGCs) is a rare neoplasm with frequency of 0.2 % of reported pancreatic carcinomas [1]. Tumors with osteoclast-like giant cells have rarely been reported in a variety of extra-skeletal sites. On the alimentary tract, the pancreas is the most concerned [2, 3]. A number of terms have been used to describe variants of undi...
متن کاملUndifferentiated carcinoma of the pancreas with osteoclast-like giant cells reported in an asymptomatic patient: a rare case and literature review
Undifferentiated carcinoma with osteoclast-like giant cells is a rare neoplasm of the exocrine pancreas. Some similar cases have been reported, but the histogenesis of these tumors varies and is controversial. We report here on a case of undifferentiated carcinoma of the pancreas with osteoclast-like giant cells. A 77-year old woman presented with abdominal pain and anorexia. Abdominal computed...

Undifferentiated carcinoma with osteoclast-like giant cells is a rare pancreatic neoplasm, with a possible cystic pattern, includes an adenocarcinoma component and giant cell mimicking osteoclastic bone tumor. We report the case of a 72-year woman admitted for jaundice and epigastric pain. Abdominal ultrasound and computed tomography scan revealed a 6 x 5 cm cystic and solid tumor of the pancre...
متن کاملUndifferentiated Carcinoma with Osteoclast-Like Giant Cells of the Pancreas in a Patient with New Diagnosis of Follicular Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma
Pancreatic tumors with osteoclast-like giant cells are rare, with only 50 cases published to date. We report a case of a 67-year-old male with a new diagnosis of follicular non-Hodgkin's lymphoma with an incidental pancreatic body mass on abdominal imaging. Cytology from the pancreatic mass obtained via endoscopic ultrasound-directed fine-needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) revealed an undifferentiated...

CONTEXT Undifferentiated (spindle cell) carcinomas of the pancreas are rare anaplastic variants of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma with a frequency of 2% of pancreatic exocrine tumors. Their clinicopathological features are limited and obtained by few previously case reports. We report a case of undifferentiated pancreatic carcinoma with a rare focal osteochondroid differentiation. CASE REPO...
